Upcycling Special – Denim Day -Saturday Day Course
February 29 @ 11:00 am - 4:30 pm£20 – £60
We are hosting an upcycling special at our workshop, a whole day of working with jeans to make new and lovely items from them. We can show you how to make a few things and we’ll talk you through deconstructing your jeans, and using features such as pockets and waistbands in your work. You can work from our instruction sheets or just have a chat with us about things you’ve already decided you want to make but need to know how. Items we can make include bags, skirts, shorts, storage baskets, wine bag, draught excluders, belt, phone holder, garden apron, wall organiser plus whatever you think you can make from them. You’ll be able to make a couple of things in the workshop but have the knowledge and instruction sheets to make more after the course.
This is a beginner and intermediate level class, so although you can make some seriously next level things like ballgowns and furniture/furnishings items from jeans, we are not covering this, although we are always happy to give pointers, advice and encouragement.
Bring as many old jeans as you can get your hands on, doesn’t matter if the hems are frayed or they’ve gone at the knee or the bum. Collect them from your friends. Ask your local charity shop if they’ve got any that they are selling for rags. Bring a big bag full, this a whole day course and you can carry on making once you’re at home. all other materials are included. Bring your machine if it will be happy sewing denim, if not contact us to see what we can arrange.
