Upcycling Course – Make a Child’s Sundress from a Mans Shirt!
July 6 @ 11:00 am - 4:30 pm£20 – £50
Fancy a bit of easy upcycling? Know a little girl who loves dresses? Want to make a simple sundress for a child? We can tick all those boxes for you with this course.
Bring along an unwanted but still loved men’s shirt and turn it into a simple fun dress with a button front, the original curved shirt hem and elastic waist and sleeves. If you have a similar dress that fits the child you have in mind then bring it along to use as a pattern. If not you’ll need measurements for the child and we will have some basic pattern pieces. There’s no need to bring the child!!
You will need to have some basic sewing skills but not be a super advanced sewist to tackle this course. If you don’t already know how to use your machine then I would advise doing our beginners sewing course first, they run each month. If you can use your sewing machine and sew in a reasonably straight line, pretty much where you intended to then we can go from there. You will learn some basic drawing on fabric & cutting out. We’ll make a casing, its like a hem so pretty straightforward, and add elastic. If sounds like something you’d like to do then come & join us.
11am -4.30pm – £50.
Please pay a £20 deposit to book and pay the balance on the first session of the course. Look at the ‘deposit’ tickets to see how many places are left. Please ignore if the full price ticket says sold out, it’s there for information only. Places are determined by the deposits paid.
If you have your own machine we do advise you to bring it along, otherwise we can provide one at a cost of £5 per session. Everything else is provided as needed, but again feel free to bring your equipment if you have it.
We will have half an hour break for lunch, food is not provided but is available in several places near the workshop, or bring a picnic!!
