Saturday Dressmaking Sessions – Making & Setting in Sleeves
April 11, 2015 @ 1:00 am - 4:00 pm£25
If you would like to jazz up your basic dressmaking with some more skills, then these Saturday sessions may well be the answer. We’re assuming that you can already follow a pattern, and sew a basic garment. We are running 4 sessions that will help you make a range of clothing, such as shirts, jackets and dresses with collars and sleeves. If you’d like to make a complete garment please book on the complete course which is a separate listing and contact us to discuss your pattern, the ideal pattern for the course would really be a jacket tho….
This session will cover sleeves and setting them in the armhole. We will look at:
- Cap sleeves, with a rolled hem, so you’ll get to grips with a rolled hem foot!
- Pleated or gathered sleeves, and setting them in.
- Setting in sleeves, the mysteries of ‘easing in’ are covered….
If you’ve a pattern you’re making that you’d like to fit the sleeves to during the session please bring it along, but do let us know in advance.
If you’ve a sewing machine of your own, please do bring it along. You will need to be au fait with using your machine and be able to read and follow a pattern, if you are working from a pattern. If you’d just like to learn about sleeves and you can use a sewing machine, then this course is for you too.
As usual class sizes are small and you’ll get plenty of one to one time, there’s comprehensive handouts and a sewing resource sheet.
The course runs 1-4pm and costs £25 including materials and refreshments.
