We are running a weekend course in making a vintage 1960’s shift dress. We will cover using a pattern, accurate cutting, pinning & sewing, fitting a zip, making and adding facings and adding trim. It’s a gorgeous summer dress, there’s one in the window of the workshop if you’d like to take a look. It’s a ten hour course over 2 days and class sizes are small so there’s plenty of one to one time with the tutors, and lots of time to get the dress made and finished. You will need to be able to use a sewing machine and sew a fairly straight line but if you’ve no experience of using a pattern or fitting a zip we will show you how. It’s perfect for those who want to get started making clothes or those who are getting going and want practice. Or those of you who already do a bit of dressmaking and just like the dress!!
If you book on the course you will need to send us your measurements so we can cut your pattern before the day. You get to keep the pattern too, so you can make a whole array at home! if you’ve got your own machine feel free to bring it along , if not you can use ours. Ditto with the fabric and zip, if you’ve something specific in mind it’s best to get it and bring it along, if not we can provide some but our stock is limited.
Sat 26th & Sunday 27th July. 11-4pm both days
£80 inc sewing machine use and some materials
