Another in our series of intermediate sewing skills, offering a 2 hour course in fitting zips and making buttonholes. Covers using a zip foot, fitting an exposed zip and a concealed in-seam zip. You make a practice piece and there’s full handouts to take home with you. An exposed zipper is the sort seen in pencil cases and purses but it’s been popular for clothing as well in the last couple of years. We’ll also show you how to fit an in-seam zip in such a way that it is accurately and neatly placed and also concealed, great for skirts and dresses.
You’ll also learn how to use a buttonhole foot, and use machines with both 1 step and 4 step buttonholers. As well as learning to accurately place and sew a buttonhole, and accurately place and sew a button!
Ideal for those who have done our beginners sewing course and would like to learn a few more skills to start making basic clothes. Or anyone who has mastered their machine enough to thread it up, and use it sew straight(ish) lines!
