It’s our Basic Dressmaking Course!! Come and learn to make your own clothes, you’ll love it!!
The course runs for 6 weeks, on a Thursday evening and will cover:
‘Reading’ your pattern envelope
Measuring and sizing
Understanding your pattern instructions and markings
Transferring your pattern markings
Accurate cutting out
Fitting a zip or making a buttonhole
Pinning and sewing a garment
Plus any other help or support you need as you go. As usual class sizes are small so there’s plenty of one to one time. This maybe the last beginners class for a couple of months as we are looking to run an advanced or intermediate session next.
Although we do generally advise you to start with a simple skirt or top to ensure you can get in finished in the time scale, however if you have time and space to sew at home, then dresses are a go!!
You will need a pattern, a box of pins and material to make your garment, although we have a small stock of fabric to use if necessary. It’s not essential to have your pattern by the first week as there is a small amount of theory to cover but after that time is of the essence!!
£75 including refreshments, machine use and some materials.
